Tomato gravy  traditional south indian style recipes . Tomato gravy with mild spicy gravy. By way of gravy recipes gets different from the world . cuisine made of both north and south indian style. In south indian style made with grounded coconut with spicy masala to be added and serve with dosa and idli. Both are like white colour texture if added red chilli with coconut paste then it spicy red colour gravy. In north indian not added coconut paste to gravy. Here tomato gravy with step by step pictures.

Ingredients:

For  paste:

  • 1tsp of fennel seeds
  • 5 medium sized tomato
  • 1cup of coconut
  • 1 large onion chopped finely 
  • 5red chilli
  • 2tsp of oil

1. heat a pan pour 2tsp of oil and add 1tsp of fennel seeds stir well and add red chilli and add large onion finely chopped till gets golden brown colour. after add chopped tomato and fry well. after add coconut stir well and turn off the flame and cool down. after transfer to the mixer and blend well as fine paste.
 















For gravy:

  • ¼ tsp mustard seeds
  • ½ tsp gram dal
  • ½tsp  urad dal
  • 2 springs of curry leaves
  • Salt as per required. 

Instructions:

1. Take a large kadai heat it add  4tsp of oil and sauté ¼ tsp of mustard seeds, ½ tsp of gram dhal, ½ tsp of urad dhal.


 

2. add curry leaves 

 
 3. add gravy paste mixture to the kadai.



4. add water for gravy as per consistency.
 

 5. boil well for 5minutes.
 

 6. after 5minutes gravy gets thick turn off the flame 
 

 7. tomato gravy gets ready and transfer to the bowl 
 

8. finally serve hot with idli or dosa
